Vorteile der IE Nockenwellenräder
Die meisten "custom built" Sportmotoren haben ein unterschiedliches Setup. Kaum ein Motor gleicht dem anderen. Je mehr Einstellmöglichkeiten ein Motor hat, desto besser lässt sich die Leistungsentfaltung an individuelle Bedürfnisse anpassen. Der Eine möche maximale High-End Leistung während ein anderer mehr Wert auf das Durchzugsvermögen und damit auf ein möglichst hohes Drehmoment legt. Mit diesem Nockenwellenrad kann genau diese Einstellung vorgenommen werden. Daher ist dieses Nockenwellenrad unerlässlich für jeden 1.8 T Motor, der richtig und individuell eingestellt werden soll.

IE Nockenwellenradqualität
Jedes Nockenwellenrad wird aus AWEN-6061 Aluminium CNC gefertigt. Jedes Rad verfügt über eine Keilnut, sodass ein direkter 1:1 Austausch gegen das Originale möglich ist. Der äußere Zahnkranz ist hart eloxiert um den Verschleißt so gering wie möglich zu halten. Die Gewinde des Rades sind geformt und nicht geschnitten. Durch diese Fertigung werden die Tragfähigkeit und Haltbarkeit der Gewinde maximiert. Abschließend wird jedes Rad lasergraviert, was sicherstellt, dass das Nockenwellenrad auch nach vielen Km immer wieder gut ablesbar ist und richtig eingestellt werden kann. Das Ergebnis ist ein einstellbares Nockenwellenrad, welches nicht nur haltbarer und leistungfähiger als das Originale ist, sonder auch unverwechselbar gut aussieht.

IE/ARP: Technische Information - Nockenwellenschraube
Mit einem verstärkten Ventiltrieb und einem angehobenen Drehzahlbegrenzer steigt auch die Belastung auf die Verbindungsstelle zwischen Nockenwelle und Nockenwellenrad. Sollte das Nockenwellenrad auf der Nockenwelle durchrutschen, kann es zu einem kapitalen Motorschaden kommen. Die ARP Schraube bewirkt eine höhere Anpresskraft zwischen Nockenwellenrad und Nockenwelle, sodass mehr Kraft übertragen werden kann und somit das Nockenwellenrad vor dem Durchrutschen sichert.

IE/EKAGRIP: Technische Information - Diamant Reibscheibe
Ursprünglich war die Nockenwellen-Nockenwellenrad-Verbindung nur für etwa 100PS ausgelegt. So ist es leicht nachvollziehbar, dass die Gefahr einer Überbelastung und damit eines kapitalen Schadens - gerade bei stark leistungsgesteigerten Motoren - sehr groß ist. Im Falle "schärferer" Nockenwellen oder härterer Ventilfedern steigt die Belastung auf Nockenwelle und Nockenwellenrad dramatisch an. Sogar mit einer stärkeren ARP Schraube kann es sein, dass das Nockenwellenrad auf der Nockenwelle rutscht. Die "Friction Shim" ist eine dünnse diamantbesetzte Scheibe, welche eine bis zu 3x höhere Reibung erzeugt als es Aluminium auf Stahl kann.

IE CAM GEAR BENEFITS

IE CAM GEAR MANUFACTURING
Each cam gear is precision CNC machined from solid 6061 aluminum, and features a real one piece male keyway for an exact OE fit. The cam gear outer rings are machined to OE specifications for a perfect mesh with your timing belt and then hard anodized for wear. The threads are roll form tapped to create the toughest threads available, and then stuffed with high quality stainless ARP bolts to lock it all together. Finally, a flawless layer of bright dip anodizing is interrupted only by the crisp laser etching which ensures you can always know exactly where your cams are positioned. The result is an adjustable gear that is not only stronger than the factory gear, but better looking as well!

IE/ARP CAM GEAR BOLT TECHNICAL INFORMATION
With upgraded valvetrain and higher RPM, there is much more stress on the cam pulley keyway. This added stress can result in catastrophic engine damage, which can lead to bent valves or even destroyed pistons and cylinder heads. The ARP cam pulley bolt allows for a larger clamping force on the cam pulley. This added clamping force will ensure that the joint does not slip.

IE/EKAGRIP FRICTION SHIM TECHNICAL INFORMATION Originally designed for about 100 horsepower, the factory cam gear to cam interface on the VW/Audi engines struggle when subjected to serious power. Larger camshafts and stiffer valve springs will add more stress on this area. Even with an ARP cam gear bolt, this interface can become taxed and allow the cam gear to slip around under high torque, and come loose. This leads to wear between the surfaces, and shortly thereafter complete failure of the bolts and joint. This ruins the cam gear and camshaft, and can even damage the surrounding components. In order to fight this we had EKagrip make some of their patented nickel and diamond coated friction shims. These shims increase the friction between the two components by up to 3 times what is seen with regular aluminum on steel contact. This greatly increases the load which can be carried.
